Editorial

As Sexual Health Matters celebrates its fifth anniversary, the editorial board has been revamped with new members. These new members with their knowledge and skills are assets to the journal. A warm welcome to each of them.
In this edition, "pregnancy" is prominent. This condition is discussed in one form or the other in various articles. Teenage pregnancies have many root causes and as Tasmeen Salima et al indicate in their paper, there is still a lot to be done if the rate in UK is to be reduced. In the paper from Nigeria, Gbadegesin et al, elaborated on the characteristics of pregnant women who are HIV seropositive. A national policy on the management of such women is urgently needed as advocated by Opaneye A. in his lecture at Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. The period of pregnancy can be taxing for the woman and her health care providers. While there are several differential diagnoses for acute abdomen in pregnancy, torsion of the uterine appendages is unusual as described by Bika O et al. The burden of HIV/AIDS in the UK is less than that in sub-Saharan African countries. However accurate records are necessary for various reasons. As part of his lecture at the Cleveland HIV Update, John Harris described the sources of the UK records.
Finally, the editorial board joins several people to wish Dr. Sakina Rashid a happy and enjoyable retirement.
